Wood & Engineered Floors

We are often asked “which is best” – wood or engineered flooring? The answer is both. Let me explain.

Solid wood will last longer than the house if properly maintained. It can be refinished several times, giving you the option of changing colors if you should so choose. The process takes longer and is usually a little more expensive but the end results are often worth it. Depending on the size of the job, it can take 5 to 10 days to complete the job. You will also choose the exact color you like most. Our installers will present to you all the color choices for your careful consideration before applying the stain as well as your choice of finish, whether it be a matt or high gloss finish.

Pre-finished or engineered floors will shorten the amount of time needed to complete the job. This option takes all the guess work out of what the floor will look like when installed. Choose between a traditional floor or a wide plank, hand scraped distressed look with beveled edges.

There are several installation options; floating, which is where the floor rests on a pad. Nailed down or glued down are the other options. We will take the time to explain why the pricing will vary so much in the world of engineered wood flooring;from the number of ply, thickness of the wear layer and the finish. All these things will make the price vary quite a bit. We will make sure that you are an informed consumer before you make your purchase. We will come to your home and discuss decorating options and measure for the amount of material you may need.
